EXPERIENCE A FESTIVAL OF LOCAL ART SUPPORTED BY ALBEMARLE
October 30, 2023
- Stirling Street Arts Centre and Albemarle’s Community Grants Program presents Art in the Garden
- The festival promotes community connection and celebrates local artists
Check off your Christmas gift list at the 2023 Art in the Garden event, organised by the Stirling Street Arts Centre (SSAC) and sponsored by Albemarle through its Community Grants Program.
More than 40 local artisans will showcase their hand-crafted works including ceramics, paintings, textiles, wood work, jewellery plus more at the annual celebration held on Sunday 26 November 2023 within the colourful gardens of the Arts Centre in Bunbury.
Funding through Albemarle’s Community Grants Program has assisted with decorative event art for the festival. Acclaimed artist Sally Stoneman, whose work has featured in exhibitions such as Sculpture by the Sea (Cottesloe and Bondi), will set up a large-scale art installation as the centre piece of the event.
Children under 12 can get involved in a creative weaving workshop run by Geraldton based artist Leah Vlatko or participate in a hands-on interactive printing installation with Bunbury’s own Charlotte White.
Albemarle Australia Country Manager Beverley East said the garden festival would be a fun family event in the lead up to Christmas.
“Albemarle believes in the importance of strong communities and we’re excited to be a part of this celebration of art, creativity and community,” Ms East said.
SSAC Events and Exhibitions Coordinator Elle Dixon said the event promises to provide visitors with an enriching creative experience.
"Art in the Garden encapsulates the lively spirit of Bunbury's artistic community," she said. “These exciting projects blend nature and creative innovation and capture the essence of our commitment to both art and sustainability.”
Ms Dixon said the festival’s free interactive activities, which encourages visitors to unleash their artistic flair, was made possible with Albemarle’s support.
"Stirling Street Arts Centre’s mission is to foster connection and creativity for and in everyone, and we’re so grateful to partners like Albemarle who share those goals."
