- Family Fun Day event supported through Albemarle’s Community Investment Program
Albemarle, Australia’s leading lithium producer, is proud to support NAIDOC week celebrations for a popular family-friendly regional event that showcases Noongar culture in Bunbury.
The NAIDOC Family Fun Day, organised by the South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS), was supported through Albemarle’s 2023 Community Investment Program.
Albemarle Australia Country Manager Beverley East said the company’s Community Investment Program was specifically designed to ensure it could assist a broad cross-section of local groups and initiatives.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to support SWAMS and its NAIDOC event,” Ms East said.
“Local community events bring people together and promotes community connection and creativity.”
SWAMS Chief Executive Officer Lesley Nelson said the event aimed to bring the community together after a tough few years due to the global pandemic.
“We wouldn’t be able to put on an event like this without the support of businesses such as Albemarle, as well as other organisations,” she said.
“While we make cultural connections through the work we do every day at SWAMS, coming together to yarn and connect with each other as well as Noongar culture at such a large outdoor event is something we haven’t been able to do for a long time.
“With this year’s NAIDOC Week theme For Our Elders, it’s just lovely that we can meet across the generations for these great activities and showcase Noongar culture.”
The NAIDOC Family Fun Day celebration will be held on Friday 7 July at the Bunbury Trotting Club.
